The Professional Association of Computer Experts (ASPEI, www.aspei.es), in collaboration with EVIDENTIA and ATGroup, organized the free professional seminar "The probative value of email", aimed at lawyers, computer experts and any interested person. The seminar was held in person, in Madrid (May 24), Barcelona (May 10) and Bilbao (May 17), with a large attendance of professionals and interested in the subject matter. Email is an essential tool for communication both professionally and personally, so it is common to have the need to use it as a means of proof in legal proceedings. However, it is not obvious how to guarantee the authenticity and integrity of an email, nor under what requirements a company can analyze the messages of an employee. In this seminar the technical concepts and methods accepted in the sector were disseminated, as well as the most recent jurisprudence, with examples and sentences of real cases, organized in the following sections: 1. Chain of custody of digital evidences 2. Authenticity and integrity of the email 3. Jurisprudence and perception of the judging body For the next month of September another training action is planned.
